Swindon to meet with FA

SWINDON Town are to hold clear the air talks with the FA to discuss a number of issues concerning the club that have occurred in recent weeks.

Town yesterday appealed against the £1,000 fine they were given for failing to control their players during last week's 3-0 win over Crawley.

It was the latest of a number of charges that have either been levelled at the club or Paolo Di Canio in recent weeks and, rather than let the situation escalate, Swindon have asked for the opportunity to meet with the FA.

"The reason for appealing was for the opportunity to go and talk about a number of issues," interim chairman Jeremy Wray told the Advertiser.

"Looking at the specifics of the appeal I am not so bothered about the facts of it, I will let that go.

"But having spoken with the FA as we have done today I think they are aware of our wider concerns and have given us the opportunity to go and speak with them on that and I am happy to do that.

"Even though it is something that happens in football every day, were our players surrounding the referee? Technically yes so let us not waste an appeal, let us take an opportunity to go and discuss some of the other issues we feel, and certainly the manager feels, that we have maybe been slight victimised on."
